Help with Sanctuary

Find your next step for installation, accounts, updates and your saved data.

Accounts & email

I haven’t received the confirmation email.

Check spam, junk and other inbox tabs for a message from Sanctuary Support. Check that you entered the right email address. Use Resend confirmation email on the confirmation screen, then open the newest message. If you still need help, contact support@sanctuarynotes.app.

The confirmation link has expired or already been used.

Try logging in first: your email may already be confirmed. Otherwise, request a fresh confirmation message and use its latest link. Return to the app to finish setup.

I forgot my password.

Use Reset password with your registered email address. The response does not reveal whether an address has an account. Follow the email instructions, then sign in again. A reset does not create a second account.

I created an account here. What happens next?

Open your existing Sanctuary app or Home Screen icon and log in with that same email and password. If you are new, follow Get started. Website registration alone does not install the app. Desktop access remains closed.

Installation & updates

How do I update Sanctuary on Android?

Open Sanctuary in Google Play using the Google account enrolled in the test. Tap Update if offered. Update the app in place; you do not need to uninstall it.

If only Open appears, that account may already have its latest available release, or a newer release may not yet be available to its test track. See Updates & availability.

Why didn’t the Android update arrive overnight?

Google Play does not guarantee an overnight update. Automatic updates depend on the phone’s settings, connectivity and Play’s scheduling. You can check the Play Store page manually when a release is available. Google’s update instructions ↗

Google Play says the app is unavailable.

Follow the tester guide: join the group, opt in and open the store listing using the same Google account. Allow time for membership changes to take effect, then check again.

The iPhone link opened in Safari. Is setup complete?

There is one more part: add Sanctuary to your Home Screen, then launch it from the new icon. Follow the illustrated iPhone guide. Existing users should keep the shortcut that already contains their notes.

My older browser shortcut has a different icon.

Older shortcuts can keep their saved icon. The current Home Screen icon is the blue doorway. Keep an existing shortcut that contains your notes; do not replace it just to change the icon.

Notes, backups & sync

Some notes or reading progress seem to be missing.

Check that you opened your usual app or shortcut and used the correct email account. Keep the app installed and your browser data intact. Contact support with the time you last saw the data, your app version and Sanctuary ID if available. Do not send private journal text unless it is necessary and you choose to share it.

How do I keep a backup?

In the app, look in Settings for the backup/export controls and save an export somewhere you trust. An exported backup may contain personal notes, recordings and attachments. Keep it private. If setup blocks access to your data or export, contact support before reinstalling or clearing storage.

Is syncing the same as a separate backup?

Sync connects your account’s data between supported installations. A separately saved export gives you an additional copy under your control. After setup, check that your important entries are present and keep backups before changing devices.

Can I use the desktop version now?

Desktop access is still in development. Website sign-in opens account management; it does not open your journal on a computer. Continue using your existing mobile installation.

How do I request account or data deletion?

Use the account and data deletion page. You can request help without reinstalling the app or signing in.
